Opaque, but easily peeled openAug 06, 2010 These security envelopes are convenient in that they are self-sealing, and secure in that it is very difficult and perhaps even impossible to see any outline of the contents when held up to a light.
However, the self-sealing glue does not extend to the edge of the flap and therefore leaves an unglued area at each end that seems to squeal, "unpeel me!" To make matters worse, the glue allows the flap to be unpeeled without destroying the envelope, so if you are careful you can unpeel the flap, remove the contents, and reseal the envelope, all without leaving any sign that the envelope has been tampered with. When I really care about security, I add tape to the envelope, but it should not be that way with an envelope that is marketed as being secure. Unfortunately, all the competing envelopes that I have tried suffer from the same two weaknesses (incomplete glue coverage and peelability).

Don't buy this.Jul 22, 2010 First of all, it is way overpriced on Amazon.
I paid either $1.99 or $.99 at a local Wal Mart.
Second, but not last. It is very poorly made with cheap materials.
Paper is thin and the glued parts are not very well bonded together.
Even if this goes on sale for a dollar, don't buy it. Not worth it.

Not opaqueJul 18, 2010 These are certainly not what I would call security envelopes. Just mailed my first check without a sheet of paper around it and you can see right through the envelope. It very obviously contains a check! Will not order these again.

ok, maybe I shouldn't buy everything on AmazonMay 08, 2010 These are made of very cheap paper, and the price is more than three times what I could have paid at a convenience store.

Mead Envelopes Need Refolding!Apr 28, 2010 I purchased the Mead Security Envelopes with instant sealing and while they do provide security they were folded improperly which means I had to refold every single envelope or risk the sticky strip sticking to the document enclosed! It's absurd that I had to refold the envelopes. They honestly should come ready to use! Ridiculous. I do not recommend. Too time consuming
